How to Structure a Presentation?Your presentation must have a beginning, main body and an end. The structure must be logical and all ideas must be easy to follow. The organization of your presentation should make it easy for the audience to understand and to remember the information you present.
Presentations are usually divided into 3 parts: I INTRODUCTION- The introduction is the most important part of your presentation. The audience is going to get the first impression of you. 1) Greeting: Hello, good morning/afternoon, nice to be here etc. 2) Introduction: Your name, where do you come from, where are you working/studing etc. 3) What? Tell audience what you are going to talk about: subject and background of your topic 4) How? Plan of your presenation: how have you divided the main body? For example: In the first part I am going to talk about... In the second part I am going to talk about... etc. 5) Why? Why should the audience listen to you? 6) Time How long does it take to talk everything you have planned? 7) Questions Tell the audience, when they can ask questions - at the end or anytime they want? II THE MAIN BODY - The body consists of main points that develop your central idea. You need to select a pattern of main section that will work best with your particular topic. 1) First idea Introduce the first idea - speak about the first idea- finish the first idea 2) Second idea Introduce the second idea - speak about the second idea - finish the second idea ... III CONCLUSION- The conclusion of your presentation should include four parts. Don`t end your presentation without conclusion or only with words "That was all I wanted to tell tou". 1) Summary Briefly summarize your main ideas 2) Recommendations Make some recommendations 3) Questions Answer the questions 4) Thank the audience When delivering your presentation, you can express your ideas much clearly, when using special expressions. |
